The Principle of Term Brevity: Evaluation and Application in Terminology Management
Abstract
The article examines one of the principles of terminology – the principle of terminological brevity, which is considered to be a principle of both term creation and term management. First, the evaluation of this principle in Lithuanian terminology is reviewed in order to identify its possible problematic aspects and the factors that may cause problems, and then the focus shifts to term length data, which shows how the principle of brevity manifests in different directions of terminology management.
