- ILL journals use double-blind peer review (neither the authors nor the reviewers know the identity of each other) to avoid bias.
- Reviewers shall declare any conflict of interests that may affect their judgement of any article they review in advance to the editor-in-chief or managing editor.
- Reviewers shall inform the editor-in-chief about the possible plagiarism cases; also, reviewers inform the editor-in-chief in case the article submitted for review partly matches or is very similar to the already published paper.

The editorial board's decision of rejection may be appealed to the ILL Scientific Council.
- If the submission is made by a member of the editorial board or editor, the decision to accept or reject the submission for publication is made by the editorial board, taking into consideration the reviewers' opinions, excluding the author.
- The editorial board is responsible for the identification of any submissions-related conflict of interests and ensure they have no impact on the publishing process.
- The editorial board shall ensure the appropriate level and order of review and make objective decisions.
