The journal Standard Language was founded in 1961 (as Kalbos kultūra – Language Culture); the online journal version is available since 2014 (as Bendrinė kalba – Standard Language). Until the end of the year 2018 the journal had a national status and was mostly available in Lithuanian and the main area the journal covered was a development of a language theory in Standard Lithuanian, also, on those bases, attention was given to investigate language system and practice, and language norms development, language policy as well as language provision. Since 2019, Standard Language is a scientific international online peer-reviewed journal that focuses on language variation, also political, theoretical, practical and other aspects of language(s) and language use as well as on adaptation and standardization of language(s) (and dialects) and the like. Interdisciplinary articles are also welcome that cover and connect the study of language(s) to relevant areas of communication, IT, translation issues, educology, philosophy, musicology, history, etc. Journal focus and interdisciplinary aspect increase international collaboration between different languages and scientists tracking various actual language and research aspects, sharing innovative ideas, actual issues, and experience.
